Rheumatoid Arthritis Study

In this study, we are looking for participants to explore the influence of a probiotic on the gut microbiome of those with Rheumatoid Arthritis.  

 

All participants will receive $1000 upon completion.

Study Background

 

Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition that causes swelling and damage in the joints. Like other autoimmune diseases, the bacteria in the gut are linked to how the disease develops and how it’s treated. Research shows that changing the balance of gut bacteria may help strengthen the gut and lower inflammation in the body.

 

This study is investigating the effect of a probiotic (that is already commercially available) on gut bacteria in adults with rheumatoid arthritis, over a 7-week period.

Who is Eligible?

 

All our studies have eligibility criteria which is dependent on the type of study, the health area and the population.

 

  • Those aged over 18 years
  • With a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis longer than 6 months
  • Willing to take the study product daily 
  • Living in Illinois

Samples & Tests

Blood, stool & some urine samples are required as part of this study. Questionnaires will also be completed.
