Vaginal Microbiota Transplant (VMT)
  • The purpose of this study is to examine the ability of a Vaginal Microbiota Transplant (VMT) to improve a women's vaginal microbiome
  • 1 in 4 women experience vaginal dysbiosis, which is associated with pregnancy complications, pelvic inflammatory disease & infertility
  • Volunteers can screen for vaginal dysbiosis and if confirmed will be invited to participate in the study and the VMT
  • If participating, you will undergo 3 VMTs procedures
  • During a VMT procedure, fluids from a healthy donor are transplanted into the recipient's vagina via a syringe
  • Each VMT only takes a few minutes
  • We are investigating if the beneficial microbes present in the healthy donor sample will decrease the level of bad bacteria in the recipient's vagina
Visit Info
  • There will be a total of 3 VMTs over the duration of the study,  taking place over 3 consecutive days in our clinic, at visits 2, 3 + 4
  • Visit 5 takes place a week after your final VMT
  • Visits 6-11 will take place on a monthly basis to monitor any changes to your vaginal microbiota

All participants will receive reimbursement of €1600 upon completion of the study.
